I made a large unicorn skull decorated with real insects that I caught and displayed. The unicorn skull is pure self harding clay and I used a wooden dowel to attach the horn. The skull took forever to dry, I even had to put it in the oven to speed up the drying. I struggled very much with the color scheme either realistic or fantastical but I choose fantastical and made it pink. The pink unicorn skull contrasted the reality of the insects and also the piece represent me, my love for unicorns, skulls (taxidermy) and insects. Im proud of this piece.

Final piece. Last day of WARP
This was our last in-depth assignment our last piece for warp. Because this was the last it had to be better than all the other stuff I produced. We also had no restrictions on this assignment. For the final I decided to go with a sculpture because a painting would be too safe and I've noticed that my sculptures are liked a bit more than my paintings.

Outside visit - Art week.
For our outside visit we had to attend some events during art week. There were free and fee options and because of my lack of money I choose the free options. One of the places was Casa Lin, for that event I volunteered, I thought it would be an interesting experience. I went volunteered with Adriana and my boyfriend Eros, so it was cool to be with people I know. Case lin had a beautiful garden and amazing reptilian wildlife. For our volunteering we helped with food, we served food in bird houses (which btw were really heavy). It was a great experience to meet people and to help out.
The second location was the Rubell, we walked over so that we wouldn't lose our parking spot. The Rubell had a lot of people in it I believe some of them even went to Casa Lin. The collection in the Rubell this time looked like they all had to do with flesh and the human body, it was uncomfortable but interesting.

Packaged Narrative In-Depth Project
For my zines I also created a package and 3 sculptures to go with it, my package is a large plush unicorn. The plush unicorn is the fist time I ever sewed anything this large. I hand sewed the unicorn along with the three hand held objects, it took some time but I was able to do it. For the large unicorn I designed a pattern to go off on and once I cut it all out I sewed it together. My goal was to make this unicorn adorable so that it would contrast with the zine. My three objects were a heart pocket that held the zines, intestines and a detachable unicorn horn. I wanted the insides to look almost real so that when you unzip the unicorn you would be surprised. I love unicorns and that was my reason for the heart pocket, to hold the unicorn zines.
I was glad to see a lot of people interacting with my unicorn, they held or hugged it. Some students were even eager to unzip the unicorn to reveal what was inside. And on critique the feed back was not what I was expecting, but oh well.

Create a narrative in the form of an 8-Page Zine
For this topic we had to create a narrative through the form of a zine. The zine will contain 8 pages and so we needed 8 original art works to show for our zines. For my zine I wanted it to be all about unicorns, but I wanted them to be sad and in pain unicorns. The artworks could be any size and any medium so I went with what I was most comfortable with which was watercolor.
I started by getting two sheets of watercolor paper that was 9x12'' and I then split them into four squares. After I got my eight boxes I then sketched out all of my designs. When I was proud of my designs I painted them, I used a mix of watercolor and black indian ink. The ink was great for darkening the backgrounds. When all of my images were completed I made sure to do any touch ups required. The last image of a unicorn with organs will be split in two.

Outside Visit: Miami Book Fair, Destination Comics (panel discussions)
For this topic we had two choices of were to go for our outside visit, I chose to go to the book fair because it fit in my schedule and my friends were planning on going too. It was my first time at the book fair and it was ok, I don't enjoy reading so the book fair was kind of 'meh' to me. The panel I went to was the 3:00 one about Best American comics 2017, I expected this to be about actual comics that professionals or a series of people deemmed as the best. But no it was about a book series called americas best and this was the comics version. This book has a bunch of random people's comics in it. The issue I had with the panel is that the people were unorganized and awkward, they didn't even know what to say next. I did not like this visit compared to the rest.
Topic 5, (Narrative) Paratactical Incongruencies
We got into random groups of 3 and we each got a random piece of paper with the general statements of :
- I believe in "_____________".
- I "verb" + "subject".
- The "noun" + (verb) "adjective".
For us the statements said I believe in health, the soup is cold and I F*** Aliens. For my group the last piece of paper was the funniest and yet the oddest. In our group of 3 we had to make a narrative/comic using 3 panels about our pieces of paper. I decided that we do it all about drugs and we all agreed on that. So our whole idea was that this believer of health was making a vegetable soup and added some drug chromes and when he ate it, he started imagining himself with alien chicks.
In-Class Exercise #5: Book collaboration
In this assignment we were to create a little narrative with a protagonist and a theme that we were given. I paired up with Adriana and our protagonist was a demon and our theme was "Revenge is a dish best served cold". The biggest challenge besides time was to create a well understood narrative. We first thought of an idea and we would then story board it. We thought of the silly idea of a demon who wanted a jacket on clearance but then someone bought it first, the demon's conscience would then tell it to do something so the next panel says 20 years later and its the demon eating the person who bought the jacket.
It was an oddly hard assignment because of time restraints which would then hinder our rendering skills. This was also a challenge to visually narrate something without many words. Besides that it was a fun exercise.
